PhazeRo sponsors the Oman Collegiate Programming Contest (OCPC 2019)
Hosted by Sultan Qaboos University (SQU), the 6th Oman Collegiate Programming Contest (OCPC 2019) kicked off Sunday 13th of October. The contest is organized yearly by academia staff and professors from the IT and computer science departments.
The number of participants in OCPC reached 152 in 36 teams from 23 educational institutes nationally and internationally. The competition aims to train university students in IT, software and computer science related majors to hone their skills in programming and train them to gain experience to work under pressure by providing the competitive environment to solve tech problems by designing algorithms using multiple programming languages such as C++, Java Script and Python.
The goal is to establish a talented generation in computing domain to solve real world problems, fostering collaboration and creativity. The contest is held in three stages: first country-level (OCPC) in Muscat, second regional level (ACPC) in Egypt and lastly international level (ICPC) in Moscow. PhazeRo pledged free admission to the top teams of OCPC into ICPC preparation bootcamp (Hello x Muscat) that they will run together with Harbour.Space & Code Forces in March.
Masoud Al Rawahi, the Executive Director of PhazeRo, gave a brief presentation where he spoke about the importance of algorithmic, critical thinking skills and continuously stretching capabilities in a competitive digital-first future.
